A man is accused of trying to stab his wife in the heart with a fork after he accused her of infidelity.

Marvin A. Rodriguez, 34, of Plantation Point Apartments, 897 Fording Island Road, faces a felony high-and-aggravated criminal domestic violence charge.

Rodriguez remains in the county jail, where he is being held without bond.

The quarrel started on Sunday evening when Rodriguez -- who admitted to drinking heavily -- accused his wife of eight years of cheating on him, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's report released Wednesday.

He grew increasingly angry, and entered their bedroom at around 11:30 p.m. with a fork.

"I am going to stab you in the heart," the couple's son, who was also in the room, heard his father say.

As he stabbed her, she rolled over, the report said.

Rodriguez missed her heart, but did plunge the fork into the back of her arm, just above the elbow. The fork punctured the skin.

He then licked the fork clean, placing it back in the silverware drawer, both the child and wife told deputies.

Officers were unable to determine which fork was used.

When they arrived, Rodriguez walked downstairs and asked to be handcuffed, according to the report. He said he was angry at his wife, but denied hurting anyone.

His wife's shirt was bloody and fresh blood trickled down her arm from several puncture wounds. She declined medical attention.
