Rush hour traffic can sometimes cause drivers to butt heads.

On Thursday, two goats got into the act, locking horns on Sea Island Parkway on St. Helena Island and blocking traffic for more than an hour, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Department report .

These two goats gruff escaped their enclosure on Eddings Point Road and found their way to the road around 3:45 p.m.. That patch of pavement evidently wasn't big enough for the two of them. They began fighting and head-butting one another, bringing traffic to a dead stop and battling to an apparent standoff, police said.

It took deputies and some helpful civilians more than an hour to corral the bearded beasts and clear the way for motorists, the report said.

The animals' owner could face a possible misdemeanor charge of allowing an animal to run at large, police said.

The goats are free to resume their duel another day.
