VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL
Hilton Head Prep 69, Laurence Manning 47: Dominic DiGenova scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Dolphins advanced to the finals of the Shoney's Coastal Invitational with a 69-47 win over Laurence Manning in varsity boys basketball.
All 11 Hilton Head Prep players scored in the win.
Creighton Quinn had 14 points and Mike DeGraef had nine. Matt Layman finished with 10 assists.
The Dolphins (5-2) will face Hilton Head Christian at 5:30 p.m. today at Colleton Prep in Walterboro.
Hilton Head Christian 71, Holly Hill 17: The Eagles rolled into the championship game of the Shoney's Coastal Invitational with a big win over Holly Hill.
Joe Davis led the charge with 15 points, four rebounds and four steals.
Devin McGuinness had 10 points, four rebounds and two steals. Zac Lenns, in his first game back from minor surgery, had nine points, four rebounds and four steals.
Corey MacDonald, Taylor MacDonald and Ethan Gort each scored eight.
Hilton Head Christian (5-0) will face Hilton Head Prep for the championship at 5:30 p.m. today at Colleton Prep in Walterboro.
Beaufort Academy 59, Orangeburg Prep 38: Chris Ernestine fell one steal short of a triple double, finishing with 20 points, 19 rebounds and nine steals in a win over Orangeburg Prep in the Shoney's Coastal Invitational.
Chris Canavan scored 15 points and had eight steals. Larry Stevenson had 11 points and five assists. Daniel Zeman added 10 points.
Beaufort Academy (7-5) will travel to Cathedral Academy for a 7:30 p.m. game on Jan. 2.
VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL
Orangeburg Prep 53, Hilton Head Christian 33: Orangeburg Prep's superior depth and home-court advantage was too much for Hilton Head Christian to overcome in the Shoney's Coastal Invitational.
Emily Bowen had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Abigail Page finished with 11 points.
The Eagles played the game without Anna Bensch, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury in Tuesday's game against Charleston Collegiate.
Hilton Head Christian will face Calhoun Academy at 10 a.m. today at Colleton Prep.
Hilton Head Prep 56, Calhoun Academy 29: Hilton Head Prep's defense forced 54 turnovers, giving the Dolphins their fifth consecutive victory.
Eighth-grader Jill Brunori led the charge with 15 points and seven steals. Marisa Martin had nine points and Kathleen Blum had eight steals.
Christine Quinn had 11 rebounds, Kelly Ruben had nine rebounds and Lauren McKenzie had eight rebounds.
The Eagles (5-2) will face Orangeburg Prep in the championship game at 4 p.m. today at Colleton Prep in Walterboro.
JV BOYS BASKETBALL
Hilton Head Christian 40, Hilton Head Prep 38 (3OT): Luke Sirgo had 14 points and Eric Farr had 10 to lead the Eagles to the win. Dimitri Lowry had 12 points and Alex Orford added 10 for Prep (1-3), which plays at Hilton Head Island High School on Monday.
JV GIRLS BASKETBALL
Hilton Head Prep 29, Hilton Head Christian 16: Halie Parker scored 16 points, leading Hilton Head Prep to victory. Maggie Gasser scored five and Lucy Ram added four. For Hilton Head Christian, Becky Woods scored six.
The Dolphins (2-1) will travel to Hilton Head High for a 5 p.m. game on Monday.
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL
Beaufort Academy 41, Cross Episcopal 15: Suler Black had 10 points for Beaufort Academy, followed by Carlton Johnson with eight and Stephen Baggett with seven. Davis Rosenblume paced Cross Episcopal with seven.
Beaufort Academy (5-1) will face Porter Gaud next Friday at Dorchester Academy.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL
Beaufort Academy 38, Cross Episcopal 24: Miranda Weslake had 16 points and Grace Stewart added eight for Beaufort Academy (1-2). Cross (0-3) was led by Emma McCracken's 16 points.
