    • Christa J. Purcell of Hilton Head Island, recipient of the Whitehouse scholarship, graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston on Dec. 6 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Purcell was one of 15 students selected to be a part of Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing.

This honor denotes an average of 90 or higher in five or more academic courses for the quarter. Jake is the son of Lorane Clark of Hilton Head Island and John M. Meredith of Delray Beach, Fla.
